Replays Case Study
Replays transforms raw occupancy data into an animated timeline, letting workplace teams quickly "rewind the day" and see how people moved through their spaces. By combining dots for flow and heatmaps for intensity, it helps managers uncover peaks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for better staffing, cleaning, and compliance. Without digging through static reports.

Problem statement & the process
Defining the problem we're solving
Problem
Facilities teams could only see occupancy as either live snapshots or static reports. This made it difficult to:
- Understand how people flowed through spaces during the day
- Spot true peaks, bottlenecks, or compliance risks
- Communicate insights quickly without digging through raw data
The solution
I designed Replays, an animated timeline of occupancy that lets teams “rewind the day” in seconds. With playback controls, dual views (dots and heatmaps), and space level filtering, managers can visually scan usage patterns, validate alerts, and make faster, evidence-based decisions.
Before & After

A quick brainstorm
I explored different ways to make complex occupancy data simple to understand. From playback controls to visual styles and filtering options, these early concepts show how I tested multiple directions before landing on a clear and scalable solution.

Testing & Feedback
Increased product stickiness
Replay sessions became one of the top 3 most-used features in customer accounts within the first quarter.
Decision confidence
Facilities managers report being able to make faster, more evidence-based decisions about staffing, cleaning, and compliance.
Executive adoption
More senior stakeholders (execs, CEOs) actively use Replays to communicate occupancy insights, driving higher buy-in across organizations.
Customer sentiment
Customers consistently describe Replays as "game-changing" in feedback, noting it removes guesswork and builds trust in the data.
Retention impact
Teams using Replays demonstrate higher engagement and renewal likelihood, citing it as a key reason to stay with the platform.
